Editor and Manuscript Evaluator Services

I provide services as an Editor and Manuscript Evaluator for many types of written material, including fiction and non-fiction in different sub-genres. I also have experience in scriptwriting and journalism.

For services specializing in books for children, young adults, and new adults, you may contact me directly by email. While I love editing juvenile fiction in historic, time travel, mysteries, and adventure, I edit all genres (with the exception of poetry and plays), including picture books, easy and beginning reader, and chap books for children, and adult novels.

My services include the following forms of evaluation and editing for your various stages of writing and skill levels:

  • manuscript evaluation – Advice on improving, no editing
  • developmental editing
  • substantive and structural editing
  • stylistic editing
  • copy editing/line editing
  • proof reading

DESCRIPTIONS OF EACH AVAILABLE ON REQUEST

Not sure which type you need? As soon as I see your manuscript, I’ll know. I’ll do a quick assessment and we can enter a dialogue of what is required for you to attain the next level in your writing and editing process. We’ll discuss the extent to which you’d like my assistance and go from there.

Keep in mind that a manuscript will usually require several levels of editing, and often these editing levels will overlap. Whether you are just starting and have a concept or a rough draft, or ready for a final polish before you send your manuscript to a publisher, I can help you.

I pay particular attention to your own personal writing style and voice.

I have done manuscript evaluations for the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild for many years, and worked as a proofreader for Coteau Books and editor/evaluator for Centax Books and many individual writers. I have conducted many writing classes for the University of Regina, Continuing Education Department and the Lifelong Learning Centre, various schools, libraries and been a writer-in-residence at Regina and surrounding area schools. All of these are related to the art and craft of writing, and of course, to knowledge of editing.
